Plant Fair at Duncombe Park
DUNCOMBE PARK WELCOMES THE RETURN OF SPECIALIST PLANT FAIR IN THE GROUNDS OF ITS MAGNIFICENT STATELY HOME AND GARDENS
Duncombe Park is the only stately home in the North York Moors National Park. For over 60 years it was a school but since 1986 Lord and Lady Feversham have undertaken extensive restoration of the buildings and interiors, employing the finest craftsmen to create a home again for their family who are direct descendants of Thomas Duncombe.
Following on from a successful plant fair in May, the grounds of this magnificent house will once again come alive with 17 of the best independent nurseries from all corners of the North. Visitors to the Flower Power Fair on Sunday 27th September will not only be able to buy a wide range of unusual autumn plants and shrubs but also will get useful advice direct from the growers themselves. There will even be Premier and Gold Medal winners from the recent Harrogate Autumn Flower Show on hand to share their secrets!
Duncombe Park itself offers grand interiors and fine family paintings and a unique 35 acre 18th Century landscaped garden with terraces, lawns, superb trees, temples and stunning views. A 400 acre park with country walks, a parkland centre, licensed tearooms and nature reserve completes what will be a unique and fascinating day out for everyone.

Plant Fair at Ripley Castle
Flower Power brings a large army of nurseries and growers to Ripley Castle on Bank Holiday Monday
One of Yorkshire's greatest historical attractions, Ripley Castle has been home to the Ingilby family for 26 generations and in 2009 celebrates seven hundred years at the Castle. The family is one of the oldest in the country to still live in the same residence, and as you walk along the castle terrace you get fantastic views over the lakes and deer park beyond.
On August Bank Holiday Monday an army of around 18 of the North’s most passionate nurseries and growers will invade the Castle’s grounds bringing with them a large display of unique and unusual plants.
Offering gardeners of all levels the opportunity to hone their skills, learn more about the plants they are growing and purchase a huge selection of exciting and colourful plants at a fraction of the usual retail cost, the Fair, organised by garden event specialists, Flower Power Fairs, looks set to be a big hit.
Judy Popley, Events Director, said: "To help the Ingilby family celebrate their 700 years at the castle we will be bringing 18 of the North’s most passionate nurseries and growers. Some of them are coming straight from major shows such as RHS Tatton and Hampton Court. They will be offering a wide selection of unusual plants for sale including; grasses, summer and autumn, herbs, crocosmia, hostas, acers, trees and shrubs, rhubarb and licorice plants, exotic and unusual herbaceous perennials.”
The August Bank Holiday Plant Fair takes place at Ripley Castle on Monday 31st August 10am - 4pm. Admission £2 includes FREE entry into Castle gardens (a saving of £5).

Flower Power goes to Newburgh Priory
Flower Power makes a welcome happy return to the grounds of historic Newburgh Priory
With the kind agreement of the Wombwell family Flower Power Fairs are running a second specialist plant fair in the grounds of Newburgh Priory on Sunday 23rd August 2009. This follows on from the previously successful fair which was held in April and attended by almost 1000 people.
Judy Popley, Flower Power Fairs Event Director said, “The Spring show was such a great success that Sir George Wombwell kindly invited us back. Newburgh Priory has very limited openings and this show will give visitors a second opportunity to not only see the gardens and visit the house but also meet a truly remarkable family. We will be bringing around 18 of the North’s most passionate nurseries and growers. They will be offering a wide selection of unusual plants for sale including; summer herbaceous plants, crocosmia, hostas, alpines, shrubs, exotics and unusual herbaceous perennials.”
Newburgh Priory is a magnificent family house set within the picturesque landscape of the Howardian Hills near Coxwold, North Yorkshire. Standing on the site of an Augustinian Priory, which was founded in 1145, it is a fine stately home in a superb setting with breathtaking views. The extensive grounds contain a water garden, walled garden, topiary yews and woodland walks together with a stunning lake.
Entry to the Fair is £2.50 and this also provides access to the entire 40 acres of priory grounds, formal gardens and woodland walks. The house will be open on an informal walk around basis from 11.00am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 4.00pm. The tearooms in the old priory kitchens will also be open throughout the day providing a wide range of home-made cakes and teas.
